For arya’s song, I wanted to write something badass, stompy, and glam, that would hide a really vulnerable, tragic core. what’s sadder than childhood ending? losing your innocence about the world? so i wrote in the bridge, “is it true that summer’s over? i thought this would go much slower” and it succeeds in ripping my heart open a little bit every time.
