I knew immediately that i wanted Jon Snow’s song to be masculine and sexy in a way that i don’t normally write. I was heavily inspired by Jesus & Mary Chain and The Velvet Underground, and chose to talk about Jon’s inner battle with “honor” and “doing what’s right” as an addictive/restrictive struggle. One moment that I was able to mine for a lot of urgency and mood was his love affair with Ygritte. It’s an emotional microcosm of all his major decisions.
